But I heard………….

Working with the public certainly leaves you open to not only compliments but criticism.
Especially if you work for the government.
Especially if you work with seniors.
Senior: “I heard I was going to get all kinds of money back from the President.”
Zelzee: “If you’re on Social security or SSI you will get back $250.00.”
Senior: “No. It’s more than that. Sadie next door told me this nice new President was gonna give me back thousands.”
Zelzee: “Believe me, the Economic Recovery Payment is only $250.00. I’m not sure where Sadie got her information.”
Senior: “Hmphh! Sadies cousin Bella Mae heard it from her neighbors brother’s uncle that it was gonna be thousands.”
Zelzee: “They are mistaken, It will only be $250.00”
Senior: “I thought you were smart! The lady that was here before you knew everything!”
Yeah……………well, you’re stuck with me………………….!

I’ll bet you hear it all … even the stuff you’d rather not. You must have the patience of a saint or spike your coffee daily!

At least she didn’t think it was $250,000.

These seniors are a tough crowd. I’d do well there. I’m used to having people regularly insult my intellect.

That sounds like dealing with my 7 year old! Different issues, but you know.
Ben: Matthew is psychic.
Me: Oh yeah? Really. How do you know?
Ben: HE IS.
Me: Okay. Fine.
I omitted about 20 back and forth’s there, but you know.

Why Why do we get this way when we get older. Why are the elderly so trusting and naive. This is a stage of life I am not looking forward to. I like my cynicism.

Oh, dear. Sometimes it seems better to just let them believe what they want and then maybe they will forget it after a few days!

Oh Zelzee… I know 30 year-olds who are walking around saying the SAME THING!!!! I keep wondering what the heck the “criteria” is for getting all this money back, and how is it that I’m not meeting the criteria!
